Underground Railroad Memorial Statues Downtown Windsor proudly boasts a series of Statues that depict the bravery of the men and women fleeing slavery on the Underground Railroad. Across the River, downtown Detroit offers a similar memorial to signify the connection between Canada and the USA during the fight against slavery. Charlie Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain Each summer the Charlie Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain is lifted by crane onto the Detroit River to pump 12,000 gallons of water over 70 feet in the air every minute. 150 lights illuminate the 20 minute water show, which runs daily until 11:00 pm, May through October.
